Kunsthall Stavanger is happy to present an evening screening of video works as part of Høstutstillingen 2016.
The video art displayed in this year’s exhibition is diverse in terms of both expression, technique, and theme, and reflects the breadth of the Norwegian video art field. Intimate stories are displayed alongside works that address major societal issues. This year’s video artists give shape to their stories via everything from elaborate productions to more “low-tech” formats that cultivate connotations of unfiltered reality.
The artworks included in Høstutstillingen 2016 demonstrate video art’s greatest strengths: in video art can storytelling can take place in new and different ways. Collages of found and self-recorded material can shed light on a problem in ways a documentary cannot. Sequences of images without any visible narrative logic has the ability to create a poetic logic that nevertheless presents a story.
Artists in Høstutstillingen 2016 include Birgitte Sigmundstads, Kristin Tårnes, and Eva Bakkesletts.
