Kunsthall Stavanger is proud to present a solo presentation with new works by British artist Jessica Warboys. Jessica Warboys’s practice employs a variety of media, ranging from sculpture, film, and performance to large format canvases including sea paintings. Her work often departs from personal or collective memories, be it historical, mythical or fictional.
The exhibition will include two parts: One part is a presentation of films, which has been been organized by Tate St Ives, in collaboration with Kunsthall Stavanger, with support from Museo Casa Masaccio, San Giovanni Valdarno and Tate St Ives. The other part of the exhibition will include a series of new works produced by Warboys in Stavanger.
Jessica Warboys (b. 1977) lives and works in Suffolk and Berlin. She has had solo exhibitions at Museum Leuven, Belgium (2015), Laing Gallery, Newcastle (2014), Outpost, Norwich (2014), Spike Island, Bristol (2013), Bielefelder Kunstverein, Germany (2012), Nomas Foundation, Rome (2012), Cell Project Space, London (2011) and Le Crédac, Ivry-sur-Seine, France (2011). Her work has been included in exhibitions and screenings at Whitechapel Gallery, South London Gallery, dOCUMENTA 13, Kassel, Germany, Centre Pompidou, Paris and Galerie Andreas Huber, Vienna. She received an MA in Fine Art from Slade School of Art and a BA from Falmouth College of Arts.
